are "pre-recorded" with gospel tunes. If you

for photos. Unfortunately they are only a few minutes in length thus, not
much good for recording.

have completely gone through this unit.
All mechanics, disassembled, cleaned and
re-lubed . Both rubber pinch rollers reconditioned, capstans
burnished, heads have been cleaned and de-magnetized as well as the
entire transport. All internal pots, switches and controls cleaned and
tested for noise-free function. All internal
fluorescent displays and LED's working fine.
All new internal rubber belts replaced for years of
trouble-free service. Both hub spindles in perfect alignment.
FF, REW, & Play transport functions all test perfectly and
controls positively responsive. Heads in good shape as well, with many years of performance left in them
and head alignment / azimuth has been checked for peak performance.
Playback meters
zero with factory test tone tape.
Record meters 6dB apart, but small tweak of input
controls will even them if desired.
Plays perfectly and records well at -3dB ( we
really put them through the paces, testing both with well mixed,
recently recorded CD material and CD recorded / factory test tones
looking for correct head Azimuth and speed accuracy). Pinch roller and
heads all in GREAT condition!!!
Both level meters playback even. Speed adjusted to 100%
accuracy with 1kHz factory test tape. Deck has had
just over 9 hours of restoration work done, mostly to the transport.
Face is made of beautiful brushed aluminum, and is in good
condition with only minor scuffing to the upper left
hand corner (nothing too distracting, see photos above).
Following refurb, we ran about a dozen 90 minute
tapes through it in both directions.

We normally wouldn't give a
dubbing / dual cassette deck a second look as there weren't many that
were not simply two cheap decks in one box. I
know, as I have sold hundreds of them new by just about every brand. I
always tried to persuade
most looking for a "real" deck, to avoid them and just get a good
single play deck or two single play decks. They just didn't have quality
transports or decent specs. There were, however a handful of exceptions
and this Yamaha KX-W602 is one of those few!
It's super quality in design and build, and it's loaded. This is an
incredible deck for performance. It would be at home in any audiophile
system as well as pro / project studio.

Probably the best thing about this deck is how "tech friendly"
the circuit boards are on the inside.
This would make a great deck for lots of uses from
recording, to playback of your tape collection, to burning your tapes to
another media, however one use it would really be great for is it's
"relay" play / record, which records through one tape, then moves to the
next. This would allow up to 3 hours of uninterrupted use with two C-90
type tapes. Looks NEW and sounds great.

main drive and counter belts installed. FF & Rew
rubber idler tire reconditioned. All internal
pots, switches and controls cleaned and tested for noise-free function.
We also replaced the 28V, "Play" indicator internal
button lamp. All else functions fine. Both spindles in perfect
alignment. FF, REW, & Play transport functions all test perfectly and
controls positively responsive. Eject door operates smoothly. Heads in
good shape as well, with many years of performance left in them and head
alignment / azimuth has been checked for peak performance.
Meters adjusted to even zero
with symmetric input. Only issue is some static upon
power up / power down for a few seconds, and does not affect sound of
unit, once powered up. Plays perfectly and after
adjustment, records well at -1.5 dB! on
either Normal or High bias type tapes.

recently recorded CD material and CD recorded / factory test tones
looking for correct head Azimuth and speed accuracy). Pinch roller and

We
have completely gone through this unit.
All mechanics, disassembled, cleaned
and re-lubed . Rubber pinch roller has been reconditioned, capstan
burnished, heads have been cleaned and de-magnetized as well as the
entire transport. All internal pots, switches and controls cleaned and
tested for noise-free function. All fluorescent
displays and LED's working fine. New main
drive belt installed for years of trouble-free service. Both
spindles in perfect alignment. FF, REW, & Play transport functions all
test perfectly and controls positively responsive. Eject door mechanism
operates smoothly. Heads in good shape as well, with many years of
performance left in them and head alignment / azimuth has been checked
for peak performance.
Playback meters zero with factory test
tone tape. Plays perfectly and records well at -2dB
with no NR, Dolby B or C and at -4dB
with DBX ( we really put them through the paces, testing both with
well mixed, recently recorded CD material and CD recorded / factory test
tones looking for correct head Azimuth and speed accuracy). Pinch roller
and heads all in GREAT condition!!!
Both level meters playback even.
Speed adjusted to 100% accuracy with 1kHz factory test tape.
Face is made of beautiful brushed aluminum, and is in good
condition. Deck looks great!

The Technics RS-B78R
with Auto-Reverse, Dolby B / C & dbx
NR. Great deck for "all around
use" home or project studio. And since it utilizes DBX NR, it can
squeeze up to 110 dB of dynamic range onto a cassette tape (normally the
best recorders might do up to 72 dB with Dolby engaged). Another great
feature of this model is that the fast wind mechanism is completely gear
driven and does not us a rubber tire. Deteriorated / glazed rubber fast
wind idler tires are THE COMMON issue with decks not fast forwarding,
rewinding and / or eating tapes. That will never be an issue on this
particular model and many Technics decks.

All functions test fine.
Both spindles in perfect alignment. FF, REW, &
Play transport functions all test perfectly and controls positively
responsive. No sluggishness after overhaul.
Eject door operates smoothly.
Heads in good
shape as well, with many years of performance left in them and head
alignment / azimuth has been checked for peak performance.
Meters adjusted to even zero with symmetric
input.
Plays perfectly and after adjustment, records well on
all with NR off and with any combination of NR, on CrO2 (high bias,
chrome tape) at -3dB! (and we really put them through the
paces, testing both with well mixed, recently
recorded CD material and CD recorded / factory
test tones looking for correct head Azimuth and speed accuracy). Pinch
roller and heads all in GREAT condition!!! Both level meters
playback even.
Speed adjusted to
100% accuracy
with 1kHz factory test tape meaning that our
1kHz test tone tape, plays back at 1kHz!
Cosmetics are in great
condition. Deck works, sounds and looks great!
